If You Trust, The Answers Find You

Open Book PhotoOne of my favorite things to do when I am going through a rough time is to go to my bookshelves or to a bookstore and let the answer to my problems find me in the form of a book. Every time I do that, I am absolutely drawn to the book that is THE answer – truly! It could even be a book that I have read before, but reading it in this moment is a completely different experience from when I had read it previously.

This exercise doesn’t have to be done just with books. As long as you are open and ask the Universe to put in front of you what you need, you will be led to the answers you seek in one form or another. You might find yourself paying attention to an email you would normally just delete and it leads you to take a teleseminar that gives you the answers you need. You might be flipping through a magazine and stop on a perfect article. You might turn on the radio and the words of a song stand out more than normal.

I am in awe every time this happens even though I fully trust it just because it is so awe-some to me. The answers really are all around us and we just need to let ourselves see them. I hope you let yourself see them today and always.

You Can Use Your Body to Make Tough Choices & Reduce Stress

When you start to feel chaos in your head because you have taken on too much or simply because you are overwhelmed or stressed, it is important to tune into your body. We all know that the body takes on the stress we feel in the mind, as evidenced by the ailments and symptoms that crop up when we are stressed. But did you know that your body also holds within it the answers you seek? You just need to learn to listen.

Sometimes we go about our lives pushing ourselves to do more and more because “we have to.” But who says? Today, I released a “have-to” and I let in a new choice. When I did, I felt unexplainably lighter. It was like my body was holding onto the stress so deeply and then the instant I allowed in the possibility of letting that “have-to” go, my body just released all that stress. Instantly I knew I had made the right decision because it was evidenced by how much better my body felt.

Take the time to tune in – let go of the voice inside your head telling you that you “have-to” do things that are stressing you. Allow in new possibilities and then let your body tell you which choice is the right one. You’ll be glad you did!

Fulfilling Your Dreams Isn't Easy but Letting Them Go Shouldn't Be Easy Either

I’m guessing you haven’t fulfilled all of your dreams. But I’m also guessing you have probably let go of several dreams. Dreams can Dreams Ahead Photofeel impossible, but I’d like to request that you never stop believing in your dreams. With the death of your dreams comes a fading of your inner light. Not to mention that giving up on your dreams is nothing more than an excuse to take the easy road (even if it comes at the cost of a less fulfilled life).

No one can say, “It could never happen for me,” because that has been proven wrong over and over again. If Wayne Dyer had accepted that he was an orphan and that he was therefore never going to have much of anything, do you think he would be the influential author he is today? If Oprah had decided that since she was a black woman who came from very limited means that she wouldn’t be able to accomplish her dreams, do you think she would have changed the world like she has? Talk about people who could have easily had excuses to not try so hard!

Everyday, people make choices. Some of them decide to let the odds against them keep them where they are, and some of them decide that it doesn’t matter and they are going to accomplish their dreams no matter what. It’s not that the people who accomplish their dreams have it easy or that they are “the chosen ones” – they simply made a choice to keep believing and to keep moving in the direction of their dreams.

What excuse are you using today to give up on your dreams?

Five Tips to Remove Stress & Bring in Peace

Stressed Girl PhotoStress seems to be a plague these days. Our lives are speeding up each and every day. As computers get faster, instead of it saving us time, we are expected to now be able to accomplish even more, so we speed up our internal computers as well. We keep seeing  inventions that are meant to save us time, but have you noticed that we seem to always have less and less time? If we don’t learn to slow down, I am convinced something is going to force us to slow down. Instead of letting that happen, let’s be proactive. Here are 5 tips that can get you on your way to enjoying less stress:

1) Do something everyday that brings you to that quiet place within you. I realize there is never time for these types of things, but the fact is, we need to make the time. The benefits are huge and the repercussions of not taking the time are also huge. What do you love to do that makes you feel peaceful inside? It could be reading, writing, drawing, cooking, gardening, singing, dancing, meditating, etc. Build it into your life because the more you set aside time to do something that makes you feel peaceful, the more often you will feel peaceful on a regular basis.

2) Let things bounce off of you more often. We are in a constant state of feeling uptight from stress. It is easy to get bent out of shape over something someone says or does. For example, we can get stressed over someone pulling out in front of us when we're driving. By practicing what I suggested in #1, you will feel more peace on a daily basis and you will be able to deal with frustrations better. Take a deep breath and ask yourself if what just happened really matters in the scheme of things. Find your inner calm.

3) Practice smiling at others. It is amazing what a smile will do for your own spirit, and it is truly amazing what it can do for someone else. Someone who might otherwise have responded to you in a rude or miserable way, will find themselves smiling back at you with kindness if you are smiling at them. You’ll find yourself having less stress in dealing with people if you practice this.

4) Set up your environment so it supports the peace you want to feel. If you are surrounded by clutter and disorganization, you are going to feel cluttered and disorganized inside. Create a peaceful environment full of things that make you feel good. Bring in plants and color to help you feel peaceful and happy.

5) Remember what is important. If you find yourself running like crazy, without any time to breathe and without having any time for the ones you love, it is time to slow down. Do what you can to find a balance. You can’t continue to run yourself that hard and not expect your body to put itself out of commission and your loved ones to not have resentment. You’ll find that when you “make time” to slow down and enjoy time with those you love, your work will then become easier and less stressful anyway.

Want to get your spark back?

Retweetspark photo

Do you want your spark back? Maybe you have gotten stuck in the doldrums lately. Or maybe you are so busy surviving that you are forgetting to live. Maybe you feel worn out, underappreciated or stuck. Whatever it may be that is causing your spark to be on hiatus, it is time to ignite it back into your life!

The time for settling has past. The time for living life without passion and vibrancy is gone. How do I know this? One – because the energy of the Universe is changing, and it is asking each individual to take more responsibility for their happiness. And two – because if you have lost your spark, I know that you are yearning to have it back.

Step one: Get back to what turns you on in life. When you have had times when you felt that spark, what were you doing? How were you dressed? Who were you with? Make a list. Get back to those feelings and remember what would take you there again.

Step two: Make a list of all the things you think are contributing to you losing your spark. Maybe it’s that you gained weight lately. Or maybe you are working too much. Just brainstorm and think of all the possible contributors, even if you aren’t sure what they may be.

Step three: Use those two lists to do one thing each day for the next week, no matter how small, that will help you call back your spark. For example, if you work from home and you just wear frumpy clothes all day, and you have noticed you don’t feel good about yourself, get up tomorrow and get dressed up as if you are going into an office. If you are worn out, stressed and constantly aggravated because you are constantly working, take at least 20 minutes purely for yourself. You get the idea.

Step four: Ask your spark to come back. You’d be amazed how easily things fall into place when you simply ask the Universe for them.

Making little steps like these lead to huge results when you are consistent and diligent. You deserve to have a zest for life. You deserve to be happy. It is better for the entire world when you are happy. Just think, if everyone focused on making sure they are happy in life, then everyone would spread that happiness around freely and the world would be one big happy place.

The Bad Days Can Have Good Outcomes

having a bad dayOf course, we will have bad days – it’s really unavoidable. But we can decide how we want those negatives to affect us. There are plenty of people who complain about what seems like everything, while there are also people who have a happy attitude even when negative things happen to them.

We can all handle the negatives in our lives differently by turning them around. You may not have noticed that bad things often yield good results. For example, if you lose your job, you might be severely depressed and think it is the worst thing that could have happened. But, eventually you will probably realize that losing your job caused you to find a job that you love so much more or it led you in a direction in your life that you would never have had the opportunity to take had you stayed at your job.

In almost every case, there is something good that comes out of what we perceive as bad. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so if something seemingly bad happens to us, we need to look for the treasure that comes out of it or look for the lesson it taught us (since learning an important lesson is also a treasure).

As something comes up that appears negative, take a moment to ask yourself what good might come out of it. You might even want to record your “negatives” and then note the positives that come out of them as you discover them. It can be enlightening to look over your notes and see how true it really is!

Take a minute now and comment with something “negative” that happened to you that was actually good in the end. We can all learn from each other sharing.

Bring in Light to Eliminate Darkness

When a room is dark, we turn on sun ray photoa light so we can see. When we need to drive somewhere at night, we turn on our headlights to light our way.

Darkness exists in many other aspects of life as well. There is darkness in the body when it is sick or when we have emotional blockages holding us back. There is darkness in our society when people are out for themselves instead of helping each other. There is darkness in our busy lives when we don’t take the time to bring lightness inward so we can shine it outward.

Darkness and light are opposite forces, so to reduce or eliminate the darkness in our lives, it becomes necessary to bring in more light. We can do this by looking at what light means to each of us. For me, light means beauty, warmth, illumination, enlightenment, healing energy, empowerment and inspiration. What does light mean to you?

When a person is full of light, it is easy to pick up on their vibrant attitude, their passion for life and the love and warmth that pours out of them. Everyday, I strive to be full of love and light because I want to be that person who shines my soul outward and brings light to those around me. I want to be the person who helps others turn the light switch on in their minds by inspiring them to let go or work through any darkness they may be experiencing in their lives. I want to be the person who sees the good in others and helps them bring it out to share with the world, so that our world can be full of more light than we can currently imagine.

In what ways can you shine your light on the world today?

Embrace Imperfection to Enjoy Life

August 13, 2011 by Faith M. Davis   Comments (0)

wisdom

Weathered Door PhotoLife is full of imperfection. I’m sure you experience it everyday, whether it be in your work, your body, your material objects, your relationships and even your thoughts and actions. What is the point of beating yourself up over imperfection when in reality, nothing is perfect!? Learning to embrace imperfection is the key and here are a few helpful strategies:

  • Notice the beauty in imperfection. An easy way to explain this is with the example of “weathered” furniture, because it is purposefully imperfect. It is more beautiful because of its all of its nicks, scrapes, and discolorations. Start to look at all imperfection in your life from that perspective.

  • Stop judging others. As human beings, we all judge each other. The problem is that when we do that, we are basically saying that others are wrong because they aren’t perfect. You must realize however, that as a human being, you aren’t perfect either! It is important to remember that the next time you judge someone. Judgments will come up – just remember to catch yourself and realize that person is human, just like you.

  • Remember there are many different views of imperfection. Something that you might view as imperfect, might be someone else’s idea of perfection, and as much as you may want to believe you are the one who is right, neither one of you is right or wrong (please note: I am not referring to clear distinctions of right and wrong, such as murder, etc). You might look at a new invention as pointless, but someone else might love it. It might not serve a purpose in your life, but for them, it might really fill a need, therefore, neither one of you is right or wrong.

  • Strive for growth. It is the imperfections in our lives that help us grow. We would have no reason to strive for anything if our lives were already perfect. How boring would that be? We watch movies because of the struggles the characters go through and overcome. If movies were just about watching someone’s perfect life, they would be extremely boring and we wouldn’t care to watch them. You are living your own movie at this moment – let it be one of growth through overcoming the imperfections in your life.

Improve Your Health by Choosing Better Thoughts

Healthy Woman PhotoOur bodies are exposed to a multitude of toxins everyday, and we feel their impact in the ailments and symptoms we experience. Our environment is unfortunately full of such toxins including: pollutants, chemicals in the air we breathe and in products we use, and pesticides on the food we eat. Another huge contributor that many people overlook, however, is our thoughts.

If you know any quantum physics, you know that thoughts are a form of energy, and our bodies respond to energy with feelings. For example, when our bodies take on negative energy, they will respond by feeling bad. Then our bodies will start experiencing all kinds of strange ailments because it doesn’t know how to handle the negative energy it is feeling. Therefore, when you think negative thoughts, you are essentially poisoning your body with toxins, and creating poor health as a result.

Stress is another thing that the body recognizes as a toxin. You’ve probably heard about, or even experienced, the strange things that can happen in the body when it is overloaded with stress. In many cases, the symptoms you are experiencing can’t be diagnosed or explained, because the cause is not physical but is instead a response to how you are managing stress. This is good news, however, because it means that stress can be managed by controlling your thoughts.

What is interesting is that people can have similar demands on them and similar situations occurring in their lives, but their stress levels can be completely different. This is because stress is nothing more than a response to how YOU are dealing with what is happening in your life. By learning to control your thoughts and your responses to what happens in your life, you will feel less stress and your body will be exposed to less toxic thoughts.

One of the best detoxifications you can do for yourself is to get rid of your toxic thoughts! Start today by catching yourself when you have thoughts that are negative, and remember that you have the choice to have better thoughts. You are the only one who can do that for yourself and you are only hurting yourself by choosing not to.

Coincidences Are Really Divine Intervention

July 24, 2011 by Faith M. Davis   Comments (0)

wisdom

Lucky Roller PhotoSometimes things happen in our lives that seem like coincidence, but in reality, it is the Universe intervening to make our lives easier, or even to save our lives.

A man - I’ll call him Bob – recently had his life saved by what most would describe as “coincidence.” As he was on his way to go golfing, a friend, who happened to be a doctor, called him. Excited to hear from him, Bob invited his friend to go golfing as well, and he did. Bob was “lucky” he did when he ended up having a heart attack at the golf course. He was told he would have died had his doctor friend not been there to perform CPR. Coincidence? I think not! It seems clear to me it wasn’t Bob’s day to die and that the Universe made sure of it.

So many of us chalk things like that up to coincidence or luck, when instead, we should be thanking the Universe. You probably encounter these divine interventions on a daily basis and don’t even realize it. For example, I was out doing some errands today and the last stop on my agenda was a vitamin store. I needed to be quick since I had frozen food in the car and it was 95 degrees outside, which made me feel frustrated when I realized I passed the store and didn’t have time to turn around. Then I remembered I would be passing another health food store, and it was a store that I preferred. I had completely forgotten about it over the past few years. I was thankful for my “mess up” and for the Universe directing me to something better.

Instead of thinking of things as coincidence or luck in your life, stop and ask yourself if it was instead divine intervention. Have fun recognizing these moments and being grateful for the help from the Universe because, when you do, they will happen more often.
